Stike and Hunger! Living in Bedworth in 1926

Come and find out what it was like to live in Bedworth in 1926.  The miners were on strike for 10 months, but the people in Bedworth helped them with food and the essentials of living.

There were 3 people born in 1926 - Queen Elizabeth II , David Attenborough - and one  very local man.  Come along to find out who celebrated his 100th Birthday this year.

What's Your Game?

An interactive exhibition of games and pastimes.  Dominoes, Tiddlewinks, Pokeman, Monopoly, cards and much more.  Come and test your skill on the Shove Ha'penny board.  Unfortunately, there is not enough room for you to try Twister.

Bedworth Armistice Commemorations

An exhibition of how Bedworth has commemorated Armistice Day on 11 November, and celebrating the wonderful work that Frank Parsons did to revive the parade.

Black Diamonds - Life Underground

A collection of drawings and artifacts from Bedworth's mining past.  Steve Chaplin has completed many new drawings for the exhibition, and is displaying some of his collection of handmade walking sticks with mining themes.

Snapshots of Bedworth During the Second World War

Come and see what happened in Bedworth during World War II.  See what the town centre looked like, and the air raid shelter used by George Street School.  There is also a collection of original 1939 newspapers, so you can read what was going on in Bedworth and the locality - weddings, court proceedings, "Women's Gossip" column - and adverts for local builders.

Snap Shots of Wartime Bedworth

Come along and see how Bedworth looked during the 1940s, and read extracts from the school log books during World War II.  Bedworth residents had to remember to take their gas masks everywhere, as well as their Identification Cards.

Raising funds for UCHW Children's Ward

Ryan Malpas has borrowed the Heritage Centre to raise funds for the Children's Ward at University Hospital.  Ryan has lots of lovely prizes, so go along and have a look.

Kiss Ethel for me

Emotional messages sent from the First World War trenches are included in our new exhibition at Bedworth Heritage Centre.

Called "Kiss Ethel for Me" it is being staged to coincide with Armistice Day.

On display will be excerpts from about 100 letters sent back to Bedworth by a local lad, Tom Harrison, who was killed in 1918, aged 21.

Bedworth on Holiday

Before the days of jetting off to the sunshine in the Med, people in Bedworth went off to the sun in Blackpool, Skegness or a Butlins holiday camp.  Bedworth Rotary organised holidays  over  50,000 holidays in B&B guest homes in Blackpool.  Some people just enjoyed a day trip on Paynes Coaches.  We have photos of it all!
